Documentation of my commission work for Ikast-Brande municipality.

Title: “Vrang mod Vrang, Ret mod ret” (Wrong side to wrong side, Right side to right side)

The title refers to a French hem. An oddly phrase of words, that only will make sense to those who has the craft knowledge of constructing and sewing clothes.

The commission work consists of 5 elements;

1: An aluminum shirt collar. 2: A bronze casted “thread”. 3. Aluminum casted letters – writing the title and with inbuild LED-Lights. 4. A bronze cast of a cut pattern for an inner-collar in 5 sizes. 5. 3 cut-patterns of a blouse, pants and a sleeve, cut out in 3 different stone-types and integrated in sidewalk.

The entire commission is inspired by the textile-industry that bloomed in the city of Ikast in the 70’s, in such a way that nearly every housewife of the city became occupied with sewing for the companies at home in their own households. It is an homage to the craft of constructing and sewing clothes, a craftsmanship slowly disappearing.

Size of the wall: 1700 x 900 cm.

The work was inaugurated 31. May 2024.
