Eremitages
It is ideal to select a location
that provides some kind of cover
—rocks, trees, or other formations in the area.
This will not only protect your shelter from wind and weather
but will also provide camouflage.

B — Blend in with the surroundings
L — Low silhouette
I — Irregular shape
S — Small
S — Secluded location
For this exhibition in Basel, I did a talk on my interest in the paradoxes and myths spun by the encounter between the artist and isolation in the wilderness, and performed a reading from my book Wilderness Survival - A Guide to the Aesthetics of Survivalism, published by Onomatopee (2015).
In the exhibition space there was a screening of the videowork Hermit (2019) and a presentation of new
works and aesthetic investigations of the materials collected during my 2-month residency at the secluded cabin at La Dépendance in St. Imier.
